To enhance customer experience, a new Postage Label Vending Machine (“PLVM”) will be put on trial at the following offices as given below:

PLVM provides sale of new self-adhesive postage labels (Pos 9B) of 9 pre-set denominations: ($2, $2.6, $3.2, $3.4, $3.7, $4.6, $4.8, $4.9, $5) and postage enquiry function. Customers can enquire and purchase postage labels of the required postage according to the destination, format and weight of the mail item. Payment is only applicable by Octopus.
Each postage label will be pre-printed with ”中國香港 HONG KONG, CHINA” and 8 digits postage label roll number with Hongkong Post Logo. The Hongkong Post Logo will be visible under UV light. An encrypted 2D barcode which contains detailed information of the label will be printed on the label upon purchasing. New postage labels can be used with stamps and IPSS postage labels (Pos9A) for payment of postage and registration fee.

Remarks: The postage labels are printed by direct thermal printer with security features bearing the Hongkong Post logo, which can be viewed clearly under UV light. Date-stamping of the postage labels is required. The postage labels are used solely for posting mail. Customers should use them as soon as possible as faded postage labels are deemed invalid. Postage labels sold will not be refunded, exchanged or repurchased.

A new "Postage Label Vending Machine" has been put into use in Hong Kong today. Unfortunately users could only purchase one set of the available values, at which point you needed to queue again for over an hour.
The machine issues labels in denominations of $2, $2.6, $3.2, $3.4, $3.7, $4.6, $4.8, $4.9 and $5, which equate to the various 'small letter' rates for local, regional and international surface and air mail.
The labels and receipt are printed by two Custom K80 Tornado thermal printers onto rolls of labels which are pre-printed with the bilingual country name, the roll number and with security markings of the Hongkongpost logo visible under UV light. Scans of labels from the first machine i n Tsim Sha Tsui are attached... new machines will be launched at the General Post Office tomorrow (18th December) and in Yuen Long on 19th December.
The labels are on a roll of greyish waxy paper with a note to users on the reverse - the labels are separated when they are dispensed.
